Our Story

How it all started...

Foothills Community Church began in late 1999 when a core group of committed Christians followed God’s vision to plant a new Baptist church in the Pickens/Dawson area. Ten acres of land were purchased for the church site. For the first four years, members worshiped in a rented doublewide trailer  as the congregation grew. Our church was dedicated in October 2000. Later, twelve more acres were added and plans to build a new worship center proceeded as God continued to bless. We moved in to the new, 400-seat worship center in September 2004. At Foothills there are many ministry opportunities, including a dynamic middle school and high school program that meets in their own facilities designed for teen activities and worship. The Youth Center is next to an outdoor basketball court and recreation field that is open to the community. In the Fall of 2010, FCC opened it’s new 5,000-square-foot Education Building. We exist for the Glory of God and the joy of all peoples.

Reaching Our Community

It is our great hope that the Lord will use Foothills Community church to reach the surrounding communities in North Georgia  for the Glory of Christ and the joy of all peoples.  We aim to achieve this through intentional outreach, serving those in our community, and sharing the Gospel of Christ with others in our lives.

Where we are headed...

The marching orders for the future were given by Christ after His resurrection and before His ascension into Heaven.

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8.

Ministry begins in our own backyard. Our Samaria. From there, Christ commands that his disciples reach their surrounding areas as well. Our Judea. This command to preach the Gospel extends to go to the ends of the earth.  This is our mission. This is The Great Commission.

At FCC, our desire is to preach the Gospel to all creation. To the communities in our Samaria and our Judea as well as to the ends of the earth. That the name of Christ be made great among the nations. (Malachi 1:11).
